Reading Award

The Reading Award is a Bosbury School weekly award which rewards those children who do lots of reading at home either on their own or with parents, grandparents, siblings, aunties, uncles, cousins, friends, babysitters... just about anyone!

Teaching assistants check each child's yellow reading record weekly, and if they have read FIVE times or more beyond the expected three times a week, with each entry being signed by a parent, guardian or family member, they are given a special reading raffle ticket!

This ticket then goes into the pot and if it is picked out by Miss Spence in the draw held during Friday morning's celebration assembly, the child will receive a special Reading Award prize of a brand new shiny book of their own choosing from the bursting book bucket (yes, we love alliteration!).

Well done to the two lovely young ladies from Class 2, the hardworking young lady from Class 3, the two conscientious pupils from Class 4 and the diligent young lady from Class 5 dressed in their cool summer wear, after becoming the very last Reading Award raffle winners of the 2021/22 academic year for doing lots of reading at home even during an extremely busy last week or so of the school year!

We hope you enjoy reading your new The Bog Baby, Baby Animals, Flip Quiz, When the Whales Came, Dragons at Crumbling Castle and Tracey Beaker books - what a great and varied collection of books to read over the summer!

Final Reading Award Raffle Winners of the 2021/22 School Year! - 15.07.22

Great readers and writers never stop reading! Remember to keep your head buried in your favourite books over the summer holidays! Who will be the first Reading Award raffle winners of the new school year in September...?

Do YOU enjoy reading as much as all these lovely young bookworms do? Thank you to Mrs. Watkins for running our school library on a Thursday afternoon (it's the highlight of many children's week!), and to Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS), who very kindly donated our amazing and very cosy reading shed in the Key Stage 1 playground which our pupils ADORE using at lunchtimes!
